Spring is here for sure!  We know this when we see the fresh buds on the trees, the signs of life coming up in our flower beds, and the robins gingerly hopping across our yards.  Everything about spring says, “It is time for a fresh new start”.

This is the time of year that each of us need to shed the extra layers, not only layers of clothes, but of thoughts, or habits, or routines that do not refresh us.  It is time to put off the old and put on some new!  I recently did this in several ways.  First, I went through my clothes closet.  Have you ever followed Marie Kondo at https://konmari.com/?  She had a series on Netflix where she helps people declutter and keep what really matters in their lives.  I began using her methods after enjoying her laid back approach as to how to let go of having too many items taking up space in my closet.  The biggest takeaway for me was my need to pick up each clothing item and ask myself, “Does this piece of clothing bring me joy?  Do I really enjoy wearing it? Does it fit?  Do I like the color and style?” If the answer is no, then I let it go. These are great questions that we can apply to all areas of our lives.  I hope you check out her website or her Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/konmari.co/ and start a fresh new way of thinking about clothing.

After I finished my closet (which really isn’t very large), I decided to use this method on my passion which is art. I needed to go through my current art projects and ask the questions, “Is the art that I am currently doing sparking fresh joy for me? Do I enjoy creating this art? Does it fit with what’s on trend? Do I like the color and style?” The outcome of this exercise can be seen in the creations that I finished below.

I also still needed fresh art just for me.  What Staci and I do through our business is give out; I am sure you constantly give out each hour of each day as well. That is why it is so important that each of us take time to create for ourselves.  Art is a healthy means for us to reset and refresh. I hope you enjoy these photos of the art that I recently created from my “Fresh Start” as I celebrate Spring!
